City sidewalks, busy sidewalks…

It’s December 24, and the final countdown to Christmas has arrived. Unfortunately, as much as you would like to be at home sipping hot cocoa and feeling cozy with Lil BUB’s Magical Yule LOG, you are pounding the pavement at the last minute, looking for that perfect gift for “you know who.”

“I knew this was coming. I really should have planned ahead. It isn’t like Christmas just pops up out of nowhere!” you tell yourself. To take a couple deep breaths of cold, Christmas-time air as scores of people walk past you. “At least I’m not the only one waiting until the last minute,”

hmmm…

You hear a whine, and when you look down, you see a puppy sitting in front of you. It looks cold and hungry, but no one seems to notice it but you. You think about maybe taking it someplace warm and getting it some food, but then you remember that you need to meet up with your family in just a couple hours.

What are you going to do?

The owner must be here somewhere. They’d get upset if I messed around with their dog. Plus, I don’t have much time left.

I couldn’t live with myself if I knew this puppy was out in the cold, and I can’t handle the responsibility of taking care of a dog, so I’ll just bring this little guy to the local animal shelter.

This puppy would make the PERFECT gift!
